Resignation
Resigning from the State Bar of Arizona means you are voluntarily relinquishing your license to practice law in Arizona.
Members considering resignation are encouraged to review Rule 32(c)(12), Ariz. R. Sup. Ct. and the associated reinstatement rules prior to making their decision.
Members are eligible to resign only if, at the time of resignation, they are in good standing and have no disciplinary charges or complaints pending against them.
To resign from the State Bar:
- Complete the Resignation Affidavit
- Return the original notarized affidavit to:

Once the resignation affidavit is received and processed, it will be presented to the State Bar of Arizona Board of Governors for acceptance, then submitted to the Arizona Supreme Court for consent and issuance of an order of resignation. When the order of resignation is received the member’s status will be changed to “Resigned in Good Standing”. Please note the process may take up to 90 days.
